it was 17 degrees... ah, thats probably the problem, its just frigden cold, i noticed it today too, but after the car warmed up a bit the heat kicked on.

It sounds like the heater is being operated with the auto button. The unit doesn't start the blower motor until the engine coolant reaches a certain temperature and then it increases the blower speed as the coolant gets hotter.

You can operate on manual and use the recirculate setting to use the air frominside the car that'* a little warmer to go through the heater. That gives slightly faster heat. I use it on the AC vents to send warm air toward my hands on the steering wheel.
