Default my dic had a heart attack....wtf???

today my dic started acting up. I mean really acting up. at random, it would say the headlights, then the turn signal, then the tails were burnt out but then would be fine, then it would do it again saying the brake light is out. the car is beeping, then back to normal. Then it said that the hood was open, and the trunk was open, finally the headlights were burnt out then got frozen up on the back passenger door was open.

I'm ripping into the dash tomorrow to check the connectors for coroison. I'm just curious if anyone else has every had this same problem lol.

then the dome lights would not turn off after I shut down the car today, switch was off. half hour later they turned off and are still off.

Also, anyone know if the 93 and 98 clusters are swappable?

I guess its possible I have a loose light or something somewhere. Does anyone know if the DIC talks to the PCM at all? I installed new rubber gaskets on the pcm last weekend - just for peace of mind... but thats the only thing I have done with the car in a month.

my dads car has issues with the dic too on his 96 sse he just bought but it only says a tail light is burnt out every now and again then is fine, yet when this happens the tail lights are fine.

93 and 98 are NOT swapable. Not sure of what the other differences are, but the 93 did not have the self-calibrating compass like the 94-up models.

my dads car has issues with the dic too on his 96 sse he just bought but it only says a tail light is burnt out every now and again then is fine, yet when this happens the tail lights are fine.
I am wondering if the bulb the DIC says is bad is the bulb that is supposed to be in there. Worth looking into.

I agree with Travis on checking the battery connections and ground bus for your car. On your dad'*, did you check the license plate light when the tail light warning has gone off? Those will set off that warning. Do it when the warning is on. Strangely enough, what can happen is that the filament in the bulb breaks when it burns out. Drive down the road over some bumps, and it can knock those back together, and the sudden current sorta welds it together for a short time. But it'* a weak spot, and doesn't last long. Then goes through the process again.

Clusters arent swappable as far as I know.
Both my 93 and 97 did that, what I did that fixed it was, remove the insturment cluster, take it all apart, clean all the bulbs take apart all the connections, clean, and re install, still 100% to this day, worked on both cars.
