Default Looking to upgrade to 140amp alternator......

Well, I am sick of my lights dimming and almost stalling at lights.

I have a power inverter in my Bonne to charge my phone, and when I have my lights on, radio going, heater, and hit the brakes, everything dims to the point to where the car wants to stall.

So, I have decided to go with a 140A alternator. My question is, will a 140A just bolt on, or do I need to modify something for it to work? If not, will a 94//95 140A work? Thanks!

I'm not familiar with the specifics of your car, but generally speaking anytime you want to upgrade an alternator you need to consider the need to upgrade the battery cables as well. This has been well documented at several sites where this work is done professionally. Depending on what your current alternator was designed to supply, the main cables may not support the sort of current available from a higher output alternator.

If the only addition you made to your car was a small inverter to charge your cell phone, you may want to have your existing alternator and battery tested first. From what I read, I can't help but wonder if you don't have a problem elsewhere. This certainly doesn't sound like it'* working to spec, even with a nominal extra load.

I'm sure someone with more exerience with your MY will jump in here as well.
