Anybody else ever had this problem??
Why would GM dis-continue the harness?? I called a pontiac dealer I know where I used to live and they told me same thing, he said he could try and track one down for me at another dealership but that was it...
Either GM is braindead as usual or these dealers are hoseing me.
thanx again for the help...

I'd suggest 10 inches of wire, cut old off one wire at a time. Make sure it'* good clean wire where you strip it. Put on heat shrink tube and solder connection.

Well I picked the Bonnie up today, Everything is cool again. He did replace the headlight switch while he had it apart. That was only an extra 40 bucks, no biggie there. He told me he called the two boneyards in my area first to find me a used harness, no luck. All they had left in their bonniws were fried ones too, they sold their good ones already. He told me that this wasn't the first bonnie he fixed with this problem.
Oh well, I can drive at nite again..
keep Jersey'* finest off my tail for awhile.......

About 15 years ago I wired a new aftermarket stereo into my *1978* Pontiac Bonneville, and I wired the radio'* ground wire to a harness wire that measured as ground, but was really the wire that goes +voltage for the light in the factory radio when the headlights are turned on.
Radio worked fine until it got dark out, I turned on the lights, and shorted out the circuits to the dash lights, the taillights, and the radio. And yes, I got pulled over and received a "fix-it" ticket.
I see you got your wiring fixed already, but your symptoms gave me deja-vu. I don't know if you made any changes to your car right before you had your problem, but if you did, it might have been something similar.
