They did, and to enforce the rule, they are not going to sell the bulbs anymore, so if you can get them now, do it. The ban is only on aftermarket HID too, if your car comes with HID, then you are cool. In that case your lights have been approved by DOT.

Ok this is what i know when going for the HID look, pick a bulb that has the highest temp rating. The first ones i bought were 4100K if you look around online you can fine some that are 5000k or even higher. Dont buy them at wal-mart or the local auto parts place, they are going to sell the silver star and cool blue which aren't going to look white or purplish they look blue which isn't even close to HID because there temp is right around 3800K if they will even post a temp. There basically a normally bulb with a blue tint. you need to find a bulb that has a higher temp and a good percent of xenon gas.

i've had the true "xenons" and i find them really had to see with on wet roads etc.

here are the specs on my piaas
Twin Pack 19616
Single Pack 19016
Bulb Type 9006 (HB4)
Wattage 51w = 115w, 4000K
Technology Xtreme White Plus with XTRA Technology

in my opinion, get a silverstar or ultra/super white bulb or a true HID kit.....anything in between just gets ricey looking

i got the "HID" bulbs from ebay and to me they are brighter and crisper than silverstars, piaa and all of them and i only paid 20 for low beams and 15 for fogs. all i need now is the high beams.

Default SilverStars Rock

I desided to give the SilverStars a chance yesterday. Went to my local Murrays Discount Auto Stores(plug) and bought all 6 bulbs (9005, 9006, and 880) WOW..what a difference, last nite while driving home at 1am, everything was SO much brighter. They were worth it.
