i just got some new hid headlights for my low beams for xmas and have been trying to hook them up and get them to work without any luck. got them all hooked up correctly, its pretty simple just plug them in and there supposed to work, but they dont. my dash board info center on my car keeps saying that the front headlights are out then doesnt send power to the plugs anymore. i know the new lights and ballast work because my step dad hard wired them to the battery and they both lit up just fine. is there some trick i need to do or fuse to pull so the car doesnt think that the bulbs are bad and not light the headlights? any help or info would be great! i got the hid'* from ddm tuning if that helps at all. thank you in advance

I plugged mine right in originally, this is a weird issue

i wonder if its because you have a 2000 and mine is a 99, mabye they changed something electrical with the bodystyle change

Stock halogen headlights draw around 4-5 amps at 12VDC when on. These HID'* draw MUCH less!
Now, I'm just throwing things in the air, but I can only guess that your car is not seeing the normal amperage draw from the headlights and assumes the lights are "blown", thusly throwing a headlight out indicator. That fix it kit may simulate a higher load closer to that of normal halogen bulbs, which will confuse the car into thinking that your lights are operating right.

Test this theory by reinstalling your factory halogens and see what happens.

Take a closer look at the plug you connect into the ballast. There'* a + and - on it. Make sure red goes to the +. The plug can be inverted easily as it fits either way. I put a kit in my car the other week and it rocks.

I have heard the 96-99 need a harness that tricks the computer to think it has reg halogens in order to get HID'* to work. Get that and you'll enjoy HID'*

yea i have the stock halogens in right now and they work, i can switch back and forth and the hid'* dont work and the stock lights always do. i even tried to put both in and just 1 hid in to see if it was picking up a difference in amp draw between the 2 and still the hid'* dont work

no these plugs only go in 1 way, there is a latch that clips together when pushed in all the way that tells me there inthe right way. then on the 2 wires with separate clips leading from the ballast to the bulbs the wires cant be mixed up because the male and female plugs are on oppisite sides and only allow them to plug into the correct wire. there plug system is pretty fool proof, you cant put the wrong plug in the wrong place

thats what my stepdad is tellin me also, just wanted to find out if anyone has had this problem before i order the $20 error code elimanator if its not needed or not going to fix the problem.
