I just had the guy who bought the SSEi from me stop in and get the ECC unit from my parts car as the heater fan in the SSEi was working erratically. Swapped in the head unit and no change. Apparently the fan only comes on intermittantly. He'* wired in a switch in just before the fuse as something is still drawing power after the car is switched off and drains the battery.
Is there a chance that the heater fan itself is bad and is shorting out inside the motor? He also noted that when he switches from vent to floor or defrost (not neccesarilly in this order) it doesn't switch.
What is causing this? Bad relay (checked Maxi fuse and regular fuse and their good -should be as the fan comes on intermittently and the radio always works)? Bad heater fan? Switched in a known good ECC unit (had tested in my 1998 SSE) and still no change.
Anyone have a heating schematics for the Climate control system for a 1999 SSEi?
Anything else we should be looking at besides the fan, relays (where are they), fuses, control unit?
Thanks in advance,
Martin

When I got my bonne, the blower fan was the same way.....I just replaced the fan and it'* worked great ever since.....Just kicked on when it felt like it kinda deal......pretty odd....
my heater fan has recently been doing the same thing, one minute it will work and the next it won't. One of the times that it wasn't working, I popped the hood and hit the heater fan, the fan started right up, problem solved replace heater fan.
I have the same problem aswell,My fan was working pretty much whenever it wanted too,so I took it off and cleaned everything including the connection'* and it working fine for about a week, then back to the same, anyways now when it'* not working I just pop the hood and push on the wire plug on the fan and it works everytime.Im looking for a good place to get a new one in the meantime.
Trust me. It'* alot easier on a Bonneville than many other cars. I did it in my winter beater without exhausting all my R12 like the FSM said I had to. Bonnevilles are the easiest out there. Do it from the engine bay, not the cabin.

But the fan isn't the best. I was scanning in pages for a member to reference, didn't look fun.
