Does anyone know if it is ok to get some 9005 sockets and replace the low beam 9006 ones, that way the headlights would be brighter but still aimed down and not pissing everyone off? Will it burn the relay/wiring up?

you can modify to 9006 sockets to adapt the 9005 bulbs.....search on here many have done the headlight mod

I used that guide from the BMW E34 site and it is a worthwhile mod. my Sylvania Cool Blue 9005'* are brighter than my Silverstar 9006'* were. I am hoping with this mod i can have brighter light without the premature burnout that is sometimes associated with the silverstar bulbs.

Cool, thanks alot guys. The silverstars do burn out too fast for what they cost. Does anyone know of any upgrades to the fog lights?

One thing worth noting is that the 9005 bulb mount has a smaller bore than the 9006. A 9005 bulb will not seal in a 9006 mount.

I have done this mod to my 2000 Bravada and am back to 9006 lows because I have blown 2 bulbs due to water intrusion.

i double stack the gaskets, take the old gasket off of your 9006 and put it on the 9005 (along with the original one) for the 9005 your replacing it with. works like a charm

Stock Foglights are 37watt IIRC. Upgrade to the Cyberwhite Navigators. They come with 50W H3'*. When those burn out, replace them with 100W H3'*. That'* what I run on the Zilla. Over two years now, still going strong.

Then you can get creative and trick your fogs to stay on with the high beams.
