most 9006 bulbs have around 1000 lumens and the 9005 bulbs have 1700 lumens , 70% more lumens than the 9006 bulbs. but not as high (lumens) as HID lights. just a way to get more light without paying big $$$$ for HID lights.

If you're not into modding the bulbs, the last time I was at PepBoys, the hay replacement 9005 and 9006 sockets on the shelf in their electrical department. Cut and splice a couple of wires, trim 1 tab on the bulb, and you're golden!!

Ya know, i've looked into doing that in my Jeep. My WJ uses 9006xs and 9005xs bulbs, same as the regular ones, but have a straight base, instead of a 90 degree base. And, the problem is...

The o-ring diameter of the 9005 is smaller than the 9006. So.. .it doesn't fit right. It can move around, and doesn't seal properly. Check yours, you may find that out, too.

Why not just get a set of 80W 9006'*? Upgrade the harness to handle the wattage.
