Default halo inverter questions

I recently bought a set of aftermarket headlights for my expedition. One of the halo lights doesnt seem as bright as the other 3. I told the company that I bought them from that one was weak and they sent me an inverter with the wrong leads/ends on it. My question is what kind of volt readings should I get on the inverter leads where they hook to the halo? Ac? Dc? And do different size halos. ie... 70 mm 105 mm 100mm....etc use different powered inverters?

The inverter that came with the lights says 3x70 on one lead and 3x85 on the other. It appears thats the size of the Halos.

Thanks!

They run off DC power, thats all you have in the car, and I don't know what they are talking about with an inverter, LEDs use a tiny amount of current and resistors are used to limit the amount that goes through them so they don't fry

You will see 12 volts or pretty close to it anywhere on the leads but the current (amps) will be a few milliamps maybe, if the resistor they put in series with the LEDs for the dim halo has more resistance than what is needed for the LEDs to work well then that would make them dimmer

Thanks Crunkfrunk,

They called it an inverter, a few other websites also call them inverters. like this one...(this is not the site where I bought mine) but probably will in the future.

Angel Eye Halo CCFL 90mm WHITE rings

its a ccfl halo, different than your standard halo, brighter supposedly. Im thinking inverter as in power inverter, maybe it converts to 110volts? Im guessing that my included inverter may not putting out the required voltage to light up the halo properly. If I swap the leads on the inverter, the other halo lights up bright and the one that was previously dim works properly.

The replacement inverter has different leads, no markings, and I just wanted to hook it up properly, like does it matter which lead is positve and which is negative?

Oh I just looked quickly and thought it was LEDs in there, the ones you have a the same type BMW uses in their halos

might not be 110 volts but something like 1000+ with a tiny amount of amperage, I am unsure if it would matter but it would be hard to test without using the halos to test it and possibly damage them, I would contact the company you got it from and see if they have some instructions to help you get it wired up
