Default Fan Blower stays on E.C.C.

My car has been out of service for about 4 months. Last night I finished getting her ready for the road again. Along with water and power steering pumps I replace the battery to. The old battery had been dead for most of those four months. After starting the car the Climate Control system won't fully shut off, even once the car is completely shut down. The blower fan on the firewall keeps running. I disconnected the battery again last night as to not drain it fully. This morning I reconnected it and instantly the blower motor kicked on, this was without starting the vehicle. It'* a 93 SSEi any suggestions?

Sounds to me like something may have corroded and shorted out while it was sitting..

Need to see if the problem is with the ECC or some other location. Pull your dashpanel trim off (easy, it just pops off) and remove the ECC. Does the fan turn off with the ECC disconnected? (trying to locate a stuck relay)

Have you done the ECC diagnostics listed in Techinfo?

I printed the ECC diagnostics page and will try it after work. I did try pulling different fuses last night to see if that'd shut it off and no luck. Not sure there was one explicitly for the ECC in the interior fuse panel. One note, when I first connected the battery this issue did not arise. It wasn't until the car was started that this problem arose.

So, basically what you're saying (by my way of thinking) is that the fan didn't start until the ECC got power, right?

That'* correct. And now whenever the battery is connected the fan runs.

Thanks,
John

also not all warning light on console are coming on when key is in run position, shouldn't they be?

I meant to type error code 52.... I also disconnected the Climate control module and the fan remained on. I did notice I have no control over the speed of the fan either. Disconnecting the power lead to the fan itself is the only control I have. Could the fan itself be bad? Funny thing is I'm eager to get this car because my truck has horrible heat and now the car has to much!

Blower control module has gone bad - It'* on the firewall near the fuses and the blower motor.

Thanks for the help guys. I just called the auto parts store and will have one this afternoon. I'll let you all know if it does the trick.
