Default Electronic temp control not responding

Hi everyone...new to the board...honestly never thought a "Bonneville" board would exist, but glad to see that it does.

I have a 1996 Bonneville. It has the electronic temperature controls. Some time ago I had to replace the heater core and had to get under the dash to do so...since then the temp display has flashed...but everything has always worked fine so I didn't think anything of it. Last week the temp control has stopped responding. It doesn't matter what I set the temp to...the car puts out whatever temp it wants...and for some reason it blows on my feet constantly even if I shut everything off. Other than the air blowing on my feet the vent controls work properly.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,
Ed.

Ed...

This sounds like one or two problems. The first is probably the air mix door actuator. If you remove the glove box insert..looking through the hole in the support to the right.you will see the arm. Change the controls and watch the arm for movement. Most likely it will look a bit jerky and problematic. That is a broken gear inside and the actuator will need to be replaced.

If the air isn't being directed where you instruct it to..that is typically collapsed nipples at the HVAC programmer. There are a few threads about this lately. Let me go dig up the link to the fix with vacuum hosing.

Here'* the link to that fix.
