Default Electronic Gremblinz?

Hi all,

I have a 2003 SSEI with 22k. In the last 6 mos. my compass has reset itself 4 times, all with in a mile of my gym (same road). Today, while parking my car at work, I tapped the wall with my front end (barely touched the wall, really!). All of a sudden, my DIC says right rear door ajar. I'm thinking WTF??? I never open that door. Went over and checked, the door was not ajar. I also noticed driving home today that the traffic indicator on the radio was blinking. The station I had it on DOES do the traffic thing and the signal was loud and clear. Are these all random events or did I feed a gremblin after midnight?

Just for giggles, have you unplugged your battery and let it sit for a while yet? Sometimes a good reset like a computer*.... can solve the problem

Possibly bad connections at the battery...? Sometimes you need to scrub the terminals and the wire connectors with a wire brush to make sure all of the surfaces are clean. I'm also wondering if there is a common module to those problems.

I dont' know if the Bonneville is the same (it should be) but there is a black box under the rear deck of my car that controls the compass, instrument cluster warning lights, keyless entry, etc. If unplugged a lot of different options on the car stop working, including the compass, "door ajar" reminder, keyless entry, and a few other things I'm probably not thinking of. anyway, check to see if you have that module under your rear deck and if the wire harness is loose or not.

Thanks for the good advice. Good to hear that whatever is going on is minor. Everything seems to be back to normal, but if this happens again I will start by lloking at the battery connections. Custom88, when you say under the rear deck, do you mean in the trunk right behind the rear seat?

the rear deck is behind the rear seats where the 3.5" and 6x9" speakers lie. I have no clue as to how to remove it though..
