ECC swap - (need 96-99 schematics)

Would it be possible to swtch the climate control from my 90 SSE to one from a newer Bonneville? I like the functionality of the ECC in our 96 SE better. It looks like it should physically fit. How much wiring is involved?
You would need to get a 96 FSM and map out the differences between the climate control systems. My suggestion would be finding a 96-99 car with the ECC and using that as the ducting/programmer etc will be different than your 90. Using the 96-99 would ensure no fabrication of brackets and fitment issues.
The only issues you should run into are wiring, and that should be able to be pulled from a parts car when you locate a 96-99 ECC system.

The thing is that I want to know how feasable the swap is before I go out and buy parts. I would like to try a 97-99 system so if someone could post that gen of schematics so I could cross reference them.
If you can wait another day or so, I can scan the pages from my 90 manual and either get Bill to scan the ones from the 97 or get the manuals from him. I'll probably see him over the weekend
I don't think he'll need the whole section to evaluate the scope of work. Schematics of the head, programmer and air mix actuator wire harness are my main concerns. There'* several pages of sensors and air diverters that he really wont need for now. Maybe later if this gets the green light.
Well, I took a look through the 90 and 97 manuals and it doesn't look like an easy job. In the 90, all of the sensors are connected to the ECC head rather than the programmer. This would require relocating several wires from the head to the programmer. Keep in mind that although they are pretty close to one another when the car is complete, the wires actually travel through the dash to the main dash connector and to the programmer. This is so there is only one electrical connector to the dash for removal/installation.
Next, there is the air mix actuator. It appears from the diagrams that the actuator is built in to the programmer in the 90 where as the 97 has a separate unit. I can foresee a big problem with the mechanical connection to control the tempature.
I really didn't dig any further because of the vast differences between the two systems. This is far from the almost plug-n-play swap in a 92-94. Sensor ranges may be different too and the 90 doesn't even have provisions for a solar sensor.
Summary: Anything can be done given enough time, money and resources. Is this a mod that I would tackle? Defenately not.
