Ok.....this has been happening for a while but just have done nothing about it. When I hit the brake the headlights dim & my battery gage dumps to like 10 or so, just above the red area.......what could this be.....I'm not sure if maybe I need a new altinator or not....I have an optima red top so plenty of juice for the battery....soooooo?????

mine does that too sometimes.

My guess is alt. You and me both have the stock weakling alt and systems that put some stress on the electrical system.

And the weird thing is that can happen when my stereo is turned way down.......when I had my Toby sub hooked up that thing would wreck the crap out of my electrical!!

I keep on hearing about this "big 3".....what exactly is it.....to lazy to look for the topic

increased wire size from:
alt + to batt +
alt/block - to chassis
batt - to chassis

Sounds like your alternator is really struggling to keep up. Do the Big 3 and then see if you still have dimming. If you do, time to upgrade the alt. Dropping down to 10 is dangerously low.
