Courtesy lights in door oanels, 92-94SSE
At the risk of repeating information, here is how to replace the bulbs in the small rectangular courtesy lights located in each door. DO NOT try to access the bulbs by removing the clear covers. The look like they are easy to remove and will provide access to the bulbs, but neither is true. You will likely break off the tabs from the cover and base and still won't be able to remove the bulb. My recently purchased '93 had all 4 broken when it arrived.
When I went down to buy a couple of new assemblies ($22 ea), the tech told me that the proper procedure is:
1. Pop the entire assembly out of the door panel by inserting a small flat screwdriver in the small notch at the rear of the lamp assembly and pushing on a plastic hooked fingerto release the assembly.
2. Release the bulb holder twisting it. There is a small locking finger which will have to be released to turn it enough.
3. Once the lamp holder is out of the base, you can pull out the bulb.
