Hi everyone,
I just joinned this form as I recently bought a 92 SSEI off of a friend.

The car seems to be in good shape except for a couple of things & I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem before.

The Compass & the Drivers Info displays are cutting in and out at random.
Any idea as to what could be causing this ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

there is prolly corrosion on the contacts, i would suggest pulling the cluster and cleaning the contacts

yes the SSE/SSEI digital clusters have a tendency to have that problem

As the others have said, it'* likely to be oxidized pin connections on the circuit boards and connectors in the gauge cluster. Reassembling it should do the trick. See this TechInfo article for the steps to take:

Hey Dutch....Having the same problem with our '96, I've tried what several of the guys have said and also have recrimped the connections on the wires and it cured part of the problem but still have inop fuel gauge and drivers display seems to fade in and out occasionally which resets the trip odometer....makes it hard to keep track of fuel consumption.....have about resigned myself to a reman cluster
