The inital link is no longer good, but the links about half way down should still work.

I really hope you don't have your car sitting at 6k man.. I wouldn't go pas 4800.. mainly because my tranny shifts then, so I know its safe at that rpm.. besides our engines make the power down low. And they are out of breath at the higher rpm.. don't rev your engine that high!!

Well, since I haven't even got to drive mine but about a mile before it died, I wouldn't know. I'm gonna get started on it this weekend. When I did drive the mile from my buddies, I made one full throttle start and rev through the gears. My tranny seemed to be shifting a bit higher than that. Like 5200 or so.

Mine will shift at 5000 if you've got it to the floor.. but there could be an error between our two cars, or an inaccuracy between our tachs causing the difference. Don't worry about the 5200 shifting.. that'* fine, because you redline at 5200.

I spent the big buck'* today and bought a Coil pack with ICM, a crankshaft CPS, and a PCM. One of these things has got to fix it. I'll let you guy'* know if it worked. Yeah, I know it'* the shotgun method, but I'm tired of screwing with it. I want to get started on the mods !

As for the gauges, if they're doing a spontaneous reset, it'* because power to their controller was either interrupted or went below a certain voltage for a time, triggering a reboot. If your alternator is in good shape and your battery isn't dying on you, you may have some flaky oxidized connections in the gauge cluster to sort out.

Are there any other components in the gauge cluster that are either dead or flaky?

As for the flaky gauges , all the gauges on the right go on and off as well as the DIS and compass. I'm going to tackle those AFTER I get the spark fixed.

Certainly...

You have two large multi-pin connectors going into the back of your gauge cluster, one of which is right behind the DIC and right-hand gauges, which probably carries several of the suspect connections. Realistically, though, once you've carried the disassembly of the gauge cluster that far, you should probably go all the way and do the R&R of the cluster itself while you're at it. We have a TechInfo article on that.
