does any one else always have to calibrate their compass. My says it 90% of the time. if i manual go in and reset it by driving in circles like it says to will that fix the problem or will it only accur again.

I had the same problem. My compass module (under the rear deck) was replaced under warranty. Since then, I've only had that message appear once. This work was done many months ago now, so it seems to be good.

have you seen the compass module cuz if its what i think it is i jacked up the wires when i was moving it so i could mount my Cap. i thought it was for the anntena. now i dont remember. hmmm. if its mounts to the back of the fack seat brace on the passenger side then that would be my problem. hmm.

The compass module actually mounts to the same plastic part your rear speakers are mounted in. It is about 3" x 3" x 1.5" and has the part number 25762938. I can post a picture if you're unable to locate it. You will find it to the left of the rear left speaker.

I'm assuming that you have added some audio equipment? Changing speakers is a known cause of similar problems. You may need to relocate this module.

yea i have a whole new system, im guessing the large magnet on the 6x9 is jacking with it.

thank you. ill have to take a look at that tomarrow too cold now. good to know also that it prolly was just the box for the antena that i jacked up. i dont do radio any way. ipod all the way

The antenna module is actually mounted above the headliner. I'm guessing this wasn't the wiring your're talking about. Where specifically was this? There is an OnStar module mounted on the front of rear seat brace on the right side (If you have this option).

yea i do have that option. and if thats the case that its the onstar module then i still dont care. screw onstar. its great and all but im not payen for it. lol.

even if i were to relocate it. i dont know where to put in. under the back seat i guess. cuz my subs are huge so prolly any where in the trunk would screw with it.

I have a 94, and my compass was located between the 6x9'* but when I put subs in I moved it to above the headliner. It works perfectly now, but of coarse I had to extend the wires (I think it was like 6 wires) and I haven't had a problem since.
