Default Built in Alarm Problem, NO MORE!!!! Thanks Bill

ok my promblem is that when i lock the doors on my 98 SE, the alarm goes off for no reason, no one will be near it, all the doors, trunk, and hood are shut and the windows are totally up. So sometimes it goes off and other times its fine. WHY??? it does this when i lock the doors from the door switch and the key fob. its getting really annoying so i need help!

It'* honking the horn and flashing the lights correct?

Typical trigger would be the car seeing a door being opened after Fob arming.

First thing to double check is for wetness on the floors and or carpets.

Seeing as you say it'* an SE, I'd be willing to bet it'* an aftermarket alarm. I imagine you could get one special order, but SEs didn't come with alarms stock.

...look for a box typically near the drivers footwell, or any unloomed wires

Whats the RPO code for a factory alarm? it could have been special ordered when the car was originally purchased.

Also, does your key fob look like the pick below (only probably black. And it may say "Lock" and "Unlock" instead of the pictures on the buttons)

Does the 98 SE have warning lights for doors being ajar? If so are any of them coming on while driving around.

don't worry about the box of unloomed wires. Pat was trying to determine an aftermarket alarm.

Ok.. so you close the door..press lock on the fob and the car alarm starts going crazy?

Ok.. I wonder if you have a trunk or hood switch malfunction. Can you disconnect them to check.
