Default Broken wire.

I'm in the process of replacing the engine in my 93 ssei, and I noticed a wire that is broken. Its an aqua blue wire thats inside a black plastic cover and runs from inside the car (drivers side) up the side of the engine compartment and across the top of the radiator tword the passenger side. I looked at all the wires running to the headlights and foglights, and all other wires in that area, and I didn't notice the other end of the wire. Any idea what the wire goes to?

It doesn't sound like a factory wire by your description. Factory wires will typically run as a group and branch off as needed. If that one wire runs all by itself (in wire loom or not) then it'* more than likely aftermarket such as a hood pin swtich wire for an alarm or remote starter.

Can you snap a pic though?

I can get a pic tommorow... no the wire isnt on my se. It does have an aftermarket remote start... but it actually works (or it did the last time the engine worked) so I don't think its for that. It could be though. Anyway Ill get a pic and post back

This is easier than it seems.

On our cars.. there are wires that come out from driverside and passenger side firewall areas to each side of the car. No wires cross all the way over at the front end.

The furthest wires come up the drivers side to the ambient temp sensor (if optioned) and airbag sensor. Middle of the radiator ...that'* the furthest. All lights etc come out each respective side and up each fender. Nothing crosses that radiator support from one side to the other.

It could possibly be a remote wire for an amp. They are blue in color. cant really tell until you post a pic.

Seeing as it is most likely an aftermarket wire, it could be almost anything. I personally have had to, on several occasions, use whatever wire I had handy. I never much cared what color it was.

Best bet would be to try and trace it to it'* source to verify it'* function.

Where does the wire go inside of the car? Does it stop up front under the dash or go further back towards the trunk :?:
