Question Bells Ding Constantly - 94 LSS

Hey y'all, haven't been on the forum in a long while...

I've been driving a rolling alarm clock for the past few months. The speed of the warning bells varies, but it is pretty much constant and annoying as all get out and I'm finally at the breaking point.

The only warning light on the dash is the brake light. At first I could just manually pull up slightly on the e. brake pedal and the light would go out. Now it just stays on no matter what. I don't feel any drag as if the e-brake is engaged.

I have checked the fluids, etc. and found no 'reason' for the dinging. I will say though, that the car will just cut out completely every now and then. It has been suggested elsewhere in the forum that this could be a bad crank position sensor. Could this be the reason for all the bells? I know this in itself is a ticking-timebomb but I currently lack the funds to fix it.

In the meantime, how do I silence the dinging -- do I pull a fuse out??

Thanks in advance for the replies!

Tough to say...but it may be. When there'* either a stall/restart or another item that the car would like your attention to the dash..it dings.

Seems like your car feels it'* needy.

Well, I'll be dipped! The warning system actually works as designed! The key here was the brake warning light. Turns out when I checked the fluids in the past, I had made the mistake of looking at the brake fluid res. from the side and not actually opening it. It is 'stained' to look like its full, but twas not the case. Got some egg on my face for sure. Rechecking my AT fluid, I need to add some. I have Mercon Dexron III. The dipstick calls for Dexron II. Will it make a big deal if I use the III instead of the II???
