We all know crossing A and B on the ALDL connector displayes any codes for the ECU. Most may also know about crossing A and H to display EBCU codes. What about the other wires on there? What to they do? What other controllers in the car can you display codes for? Or, what are they used for?

Also, this has arised my curiousity. I am trying to grab the intermittent codes for the SES light, and I always used to hear a fan running when I would jump A and B terminals together. Well, I thought maybe the ECU had a fan, and it would turn on when you jump the codes, because maybe it gets hot, who knew? Well, I had the hood open this evening, and the door open, and it was significantly louder this time. So, I decided to check it out, and found that both the high and low speed fans were running! Maybe, instead of getting deep into the wiring, there is an easier method to getting both fans running, perhaps there is a simple method, other than jumping A and B terminals! I will investigate tomorrow, it is already dark here.

I don't know about you, but I'd rather not screw with my ALDL terminals. Not even to get fans to come on.

I can also tell you that my fans don't come on in my 93 by jumping those. So wiring is different from year to year.

hrm...well I believe the scantool does the same thing if you have it do a "field test." the book says it will activate all solenoids and maybe in your year the fans also.

I would pass by the jumping of the ECU, and just move onto what turns the fans on. Maybe my FSM has some documentation of this. But, it could be that the ECU goes into a mode which turns on everything, because my everything dimmed when I jumped the wires, and my voltage dropped quite a bit.

Which solenoids would it activate? I have like 4 solenoids on the whole car, and I think the majority are vacuum controlled, if not all.
