Long story short, I need a battery for my PA.

I was wondering whether anyone has had experience with asorbed glass mat cell batteries? I was looking at the Canadian tire eliminator spiral grid battery. 770cca. Its noted for excellent cold starting, superior power, and durability. Whereas lead acid batteries typically last 4-6 years (avg i've seen, 5), these batteries last longer? I would theink with a 10 year warranty compared with a conventional 3/2/2 year warranty for a reg battery, it seems these batteries ought to last at least that long.

Second, the battery i have has arounds 400 to 500 cca. I think these cars need a min of 600? Also, i know the agm batteries need a special charge, so how would that play out with the regular alternator?
I am a mechanic and ought to know the answers, but i just wanted to do a little research before i spend the premium for a top grade battery..

I'm thinking of buying a second for the boat too..

Bought a regular battery. It'll be just as good. I do need a battery for the boat though, so i might opt for the AGM battery come summertime (hurry!!!).

I think the technology is good, especially for us with the battery'* in the back seat who hope the vents dont clog/stay sealed to keep cabin air safe. But they are quite aways from cost effective even with 10 year life guarantee. My own experiences with batteries has been 7-8 years and a few beyond. I am also an avid boater and can say the same about storage battery'* when they are kept up to snuff. Leaving them low charged or discharged leads to an early death.
