Hello all! Sorry my first post had to be a request for help.

My daughter, who is away at college, bought herself a 1996 Bonneville that she is very fond of. It'* in good shape, with about 120,000 miles on it.

This morning she drove it to the local cafe to grab breakfast. After turning off the car she noticed that she left a window open. She reinserted the key and turned it part way so as to be able to close the window, at which point both airbags immediately deployed. She wasn't injured, though her windshield was broken.

In doing a quick google search, I came across a number of instances where this has happened in other 1996 model year Bonneville'*. There was mention in some instances of a corroded air bag sensor.

Is this a known issue? Has anyone had this happen who can offer some practical advice on how to proceed re getting some assistance from Pontiac in rectifying the situation? She'* quite a ways from home and, being a typical college kid, doesn't have a lot of spare cash laying around.
