Default ABS/Traction Control Lights

I have a 94 SE Bonneville. Recently, the ABS/Traction Control lights on the instrument panel started to come on intermittently. If I shut down the engine and restarted, the light would go off.

After several weeks, the restart didn't work to get the light to go off, so I took the car to a Pontiac dealer. According to the dealer, the codes indicated that the Pressure Modulator Valve had failed and needed to be replaced at a cost of $1800.

Since I live in an area without snow, I don't want to spend the $$$ to fix the ABS system on a 15 year old car. I can live without ABS. However, the indicator lights are very annoying at night.

Is there anyway to disable the ABS/Traction control lights?

Thanks.

Yup. I did it on my 93.

Pull the cluster (procedure in Techinfo, quite easy), and remove the little bulbs for those lights. A flashlight from the rear helps identify them.

Put a piece of black electrical tape over the holes to prevent dash lighting from bleeding through the empty sockets at night. They're surface mount twist-lock bulbs inserted through holes in the rear circuit board.

In the process of doing this, I discovered rear-steering.

Showing you to give you an idea of how easy it is to do this:
