Default '98 Key Fob Reprogramming: FIXED!

OK, so I've read the tech infos, old posts, everything, and the procedure still isn't working for me.

The 98 is the OBDII system right? So I've been following this guide: http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...e=article&k=62

The step where everything goes wrong for me is "3. Turn the ignition switch ON. The doors will cycle to lock"

I've even taken the hush panel down to insure I'm connecting between black and black white, I noticed there was 2 black white wires, so I tried going to either of those and nothing.

Any other ideas? Or have I just completely missed what I'm suppoed to be doing! :P

Thanks.

And just to clarify "Turn the ignition switch on/off" refers to having the car started (on), or having the car off, keys removed (off)?

no, "on" means "run", "off" means "off"

leave the keys in the ignition. car shouldn't be started I believe

Ok...... to clarify again...

On = engine running.

or

On = keys in the run position, but no engine running?

Off = Keys out.

?

OK, I'm actually in the car now :P

Neither has worked, no matter the key position, the doors never "cycle to lock" after the jumper is inserted.

all I've ever had to do was hold "lock" and "unlock" down together for 15 secs or until the locks activated. try that

Yea, that'* all I've had to do in the past as well.

But these had the batteries fall out, and the battery holder contacts break off, which I had to resolder, and thoroughly test (confirmed working, unless the radio transmitter itself has fried), so I'm positive they're plenty de-programmed.

I'm just frustrated I can't even get the first step in the procedure to work...

Also, it may be a factor, the trunk light doesn't work (no voltage at the connector), which fuse is that? Would it affect any of this stuff?

Thanks.

hold the LOCK AND UNLOCK ON TRANSMITTER AT SAME TIME until doors cycle to lock

program all transmitters the same way

Thanks, I'll go give this a try. The difference between what you've said and what I'm doing is a jumper, then I open the door cause I get myself upside down under the dash, and I can't fit my head between the steering wheel and the door :P

Well I'll test my contortion skills :P

I'll report back in a min.
