140 amp alternator

Yes the problem with lights dimming is another problem the most have on here except for one person who doesn't have the same problems as us and we are all wrong.
Sitting at a stop light with the signal on and the blower motor on low/mid way at night with all the lights on just kills the battery level. I had that same problem with a 1990 Olds Cutlass I had. My 2003 Malibu does it too but not as severely as the Bonne. My battery is only 1 year old. I went with a 1000 CCA battery and I am on my 2nd Alt in that same year.
I want to get a higher amperage alt but this one has the warranty on it, so free replacement, LOL. I wonder if that Alt for the Bonne with the heated windshield would fit on my 1990 SSE, hmmmm.

there is no mention of a 140 for the 1990 3800 a 105 is the biggest that i see listed.
go to advance and look at one if they have it take it out to the car and see it it looks close
you can always bring it back if it doesnt fit

I know the owner of the place ( not advance), I misplaced ( Renee did actually) the receipt which was the warranty with the warranty card but he replaced it for free anyhow.
If he has it in stock I can check it pretty easily, mind you it is just as easy for me to drive there, pop the hood, take the alt off ( takes 5 mins) and go check inside. At least the alt comes off easy on these cars.

Yes, they are interchangable. the 140amp is compatable with the 105amp [in 92+ers], and the 105amp from any SI is compatable with an LN3 [i'm sure LG3, also]. I have an alt from a junker '94 right now [unless bargain basement SEs had heated windshields, it'* a 105amp]. Now, a SII alt is NOT compatable, the mountings are completely different, so don't even try pushing that envelope.

I went to autozone today to look for light bulbs for my rear door handles (they were out of course) and I asked them for a price quote on a 140 amp alt for a 93 bonneville, and the guy looked at me funny. Apparently he has never heard of a 140 amp alt for a gm car "it'* news to me" so autozone is a no go. I will try advanced on wednesday when I get the bonneville back from the shop
