Default '02 ssei heated seat problem?

On my passenger seat the when i turn on the heated seat, the light on the button turns on but goes out after a couple of seconds, like its turning itself off. The drivers side seems to work just fine. Any body got any ideas?

Thanks
Rob and Patty

Well, the fault could be in the heated seat module-passenger. If you depress the the heated seat switch (passenger) a second time (before LED goes out), does the low heat LED come on? You could try interchanging driver & passenger heated seat modules to see if problem follows.

Default heated seat problem

I have the same problem only it'* the drivers seat. Had it checked-out, and was told it'* a common problem with the grid element in the seat, (break in the element). About a $400.00 repair. Or, buy a $20.00 heat and massage cushion at any local auto part store.
Works good.

Rob, if you have a multi-meter, you could read out the resistance of the heater elements. You have to disconnect the C2 connector from the passenger seat heated module. Look for resistance between pins A & C. The seat cushion element & the seat back element are connected in series. There is a connector between the 2 elements, so check that connector is securely made up. I'm not sure what resistance you should expect, but you could read out the driver seat & then compare the two.

I have an idea...sorry it'* off topic and I think Mark'* suggestions are a good start. (That guy lives with his FSM in his hands)

You could let Patty drive so the heated seat problem isn't an issue.
