Default will this paint do?

so the strut bar... i have VHT silver color paint left over from painting my corner bulbs (imagine that). im thinking about painting stuff. like the strut bar. got any tips for me?

remove it wash it off very well dishsoap and waster and or paint thinners to get off all the greasy/oily dirt then sand it down really well till to you see not shiny areas left, wash and wipe all the sanding dust off the bar and hang it someware. then paint it in 2-3 light even coats. if the paint you have drys to a flat finish then you will need to get a clear coat and apply that in the same way

I've painted my Strut bar, and I've learned it pays to use a BRUTALLY tough finish. Hammerite comes to mind. You want durability up there.

I painted mine also. I did everything right. Looks great however when I put it on the car it rubs the hood insulation and that stuck to it.
