Who the heck bangs on a lens to see if the light will come back on? I mean, I don't mean to be mean to those who do but like..uhh..common sense..bulb out..replace! Don't bang.

UV is not what causes it. It'* partly the way they're made, and how heat and moisture work their way in. UV is what causes the SE/SLE tails to yellow and fade. The SSEi/SSE tails are not susceptible to this type of damage.

You cannot prevent it other than garaging the car at work or at home. And any lenses you START with already have years of heat and moisture behind them. It'* only a matter of time.

Tint them.

I think the GM saw the same thing I did, looking at the notch in the 96-99 tails.
