Thanks for the explanation. I would LOVE to do it, especially since my car is black anyways. I don't know much about painting, but my step brother does have a spray gun. ...might be something to consider bringing up to him the next time I'm over there.

one can may be enough. i did 1.5 heavyish coats. you can probly do 2-3 coats outta one can. its good to have too much, it would REALLY suck if you run out mid coating. you may need to clearcoat, too. i masked off my clear upper sections, tinted the bottom part, then took off masking tape, sanded the "tapeline" with 600 grit. then wetsanded the whole tinted section with 1000 grit. then clearcoated it.

Is everyones shinny??? Mine isn't shinny and I put 3 coats of clear on it, and used a whole bottle of VHT and it looks flat black, what do I do!?!

I had 20 mins up to 30mins between each coat.

I'd say go get some high quality automotive clear coat and try another coat of that..

worst comes to worst and you strip off everything and start over

What kind of clear coat should I ask for and were can I get it? Unforatnely I have to go to V.a this weekend and have to drive with the lights

i just used rustoleum clear coat. its not bad, but the nozzle is old skool, not the nicer ones with the fan spray pattern(its easier to overspray with that type). and i WET sanded between coats with 1000 grit.

I'm gonna have my sisters bf spray clear coat on it at his shop, he has some better type then the can stuff...How far down should he sand? How would he know hes that far? and what snadpaper should he use?
