No it won't hurt your paint.
In fact I have even used paint thinner (Varsol) a few times in a pinch...followed by a good spray wax with no effect on the paint.

Never use Laquer Thinner.

rubbing alcohol.
If its dry and ckaed on, place a papertowel with alcohol on it on the spots for a few minutes, and wipe right off.

no matter what the remedy you use, make sure you give it a good wax job afterwards
