Default Touch-up Paint Supplier

Hi,

Where is the best place to go for the little bottles of touch-up paint? There'* some nagging 'rock chips' on my front bumper (tiny but annoying) and I would like to paint them over.

How do we determine the color we need? Is there a color code on the door or someplace else?

Since these are GM products I am wondering if the GM dealer'* parts department would be where to go.

Thanks,

Syn

I got my touch up paint straight from GM. You need to look up your RPO code to get your color match. Check this thread out on RPO codes.

You can go straight to GM for it or if you have a common color you can go to any of the "Big 3" auto store chains and they carry a lot of touch up paints. I had a bottle of touch up for my silver Avalanche from there and it was a perfect match.

You can check on top of the spare tire compartment. There'* a sticker on top of the panel with info on it. The paint code is one of the pieces of info on there.

^This is correct.
A sticker will be on the spare tire cover, like this. The highlighted code should be the basecoat color code.

I had to special order my paint, because none of the local auto stores had my color. I got mine from this site. http://automotivetouchup.com/

You'll never find that paint color at local auto parts stores... it'* too rare. Been there, tried it! GM dealer will probably be the best bet. Those chips on the front bumper stick out like crazy... I never tackled that as I was afraid I would make it look worse.

I've tried many of the Auto Parts touch up paints in the past, and most often disappointed. The price of going the the Dealer and getting what matches best is worth it.
