Default Tinting Clear-Cloat question

so my friend'* car is in the garage. so he decided to tint his taillights. cool and all.

looked over the the techinfo carefully as well as directions on the can and so on. got the clearcoat mentioned in techinfo "Krylon Acrylic Satin Clearcoat" -- put it on and the VHT is decidedly blurry/foggy. ive noticed a lot of the taillight tint pics on here have the same quality.

so i looked at a number of pics on here by the illustrious will, and as nearly as i can tell on a quick search, all of his taillights have this same quality.

but haro and putertopia'* do not, and they used "Duplicolor Acrylic Lacquer Glossy Clearcoat".

two question: is this in my head, or is the difference actually there? and, if its not in my head, should the techinfo article be updated to reflect the possible difference between clears.

satin v glossy

seems obvious in hindsight, he wanted glossy finish and we went with satin just because techinfo said it. thats what happens when you follow blindly

When I used the Krylon, it turned a funny white/fuzzy color and looked REALLY bad, and required a re-do. Not sure if I did something wrong (doubtful), or if I got the wrong stuff.

I used satin way back in the day, and really liked it. I use glossy now, as the satin is very hard to find.

You can gloss over the satin, no problem. Just use the same type and brand.

I would lightly wetsand first or the finish will be rough. 600 grit should do the job.
