Default Sunroof

Hi everyone,

I'm already a member here, I just need to update my information.

I drive a black 2001 SSEi, cleared headlights, cleared tail lights. Anyways, when I purchased my car back in... oh, I'd say 2004, the sunroof was broken (I believe it was the plastic piece inside, I'm not really sure what was wrong with it). The person we spoke to about purchasing the vehicle was the manager. He had actually been driving the car so he had known about the sunroof problem and they actually fixed it for us, no extra charge.

Recently though, when I open it into moonroof mode (I believe that'* what it'* called, where it just goes up, and not in), every once in a while I will hear what sounds to be a loud crack or just a crackling like noise. Nothing breaks or anything but it is starting to get annoying and seems like it might be an easy fix. Anyone have the same problem after the sunroof has already been fixed?

You might get more replies when its not freezing out so we can open the sunroofs. I have not experienced the problem but I've only opened mine once to date.

Default same thing

I had the sme problem it would make a weird snapping noise... well after a month or two it just broke completely, (it was semi-broken before) anyways the local dealership said they wanted $1,200 plus labor to completely replace the sunroof because they couldnt get individual parts. so needless to say unless someone else know how to do it easier, mine is broken as well. :(

The snapping sounds are typically the precursor to total failure. If I remember correctly that is a bad motor/gear assembly.
