This is here because it is an appearance issue for me.

I want rust free brake rotors. I can take care of the rear drums with the right paint, but what kind of rotors should I get that won't rust up?

are you talking on the outter edges or on the actual surface? Or inside the vents?

High temp paint...

zinc coating would be my first guess....but that means new rotors.

not sure what you could do with current rotors other than knock all the rust off and paint the outter edge

from what I have heard, the zinc on zinc coated rotors will help prevent the rust in the vents and outter edge, along with near the hub.

Although, I have no personal experience with them, so...

get all the rust off spray with high temp paint, bbq paint etc..

Looking for new rotor ideas...

My rotors were starting to speckle with rust so I used a product called por-15. It'* a very tough coating that you can brush or spray on. It permanately seals so rust will never show up again, can be painted on right over rust. I purchased a 4 step a kit that you spray on cleaner to eats away grime and leaves bare metal then a metal etch to prep metal and then the por-15 to seal followed up by some gloss chassis black as top coat. The top coat is reccommended for anything that will be exposed to sunlight. Kit was about 50 bucks. I also done the black part of the brake calipers this way. It looks awesome !! and the brakes no longer squeak (still dirty up rims fast with stock pads though) Google a search on por-15 for various products, they do make a high temp paint and I asked company about it but it is not reccommended for this application. I have used por-15 in the past on other projects and it is still holding up perfectly 10+ years old now. One important word of advice: use the rubber latex gloves when applying as this stuff bonds to any and everything VERY well.
