usually when i got wax in cracks........(ha that rhymed) i was applying too much wax.........try applying thinner coats.......and you'll be suprised at the minimal cleanup after.

Very fine tooth brush works awesome. Just use your old one and buy you teeth a new one. This works well on rims also. 101 uses...
