Pics page 2 :)

Can anyone guess what it might be????

willwren 02-18-2007 11:32 AM

Your clock will change from 3:59 to 4:00?

I'm betting since you posted it in this section that it's either clear corners or a taillight modification.

PRD2BDF 02-18-2007 11:39 AM

Or tint.

BillBoost37 02-18-2007 11:46 AM

OLDsman105 02-18-2007 12:58 PM

Pearl_bonnie02 02-18-2007 03:47 PM

I know what it is, but I'm sworn to secrecy!

1993 SLE 02-18-2007 05:31 PM

its 5:30

BillBoost37 02-18-2007 07:47 PM

There's 10 windows in a Bonneville..

And...who the hell tints in the coldest part of the winter..will that even dry properly?

willwren 02-18-2007 08:44 PM

The topic author tints this time of year, of course. Hope it's a heated shop.

BLACK94SSEi 02-18-2007 08:55 PM

Whew.....took longer than expected. I just got in but its only 20% done so no pics until tomorrow :(

GoldenBullet 02-18-2007 10:35 PM

wait, so is it tint or what?

BLACK94SSEi 02-18-2007 11:05 PM

Yep...I mean I dont know why I try to play these games. I suck at them. I mean it HAD to be in Detailing and appearance but I didnt want to give it away.

20% all around. They had some trouble with the rear windshield but they got it done.

Total cost $149.00 + Tax

Ive got to clean up the goopy windows though and I cant roll them down for 3 days. Lifetime warranty. The guy also said that if I get stopped, then go back and they will put on legal tint on the fronts FREE of charge. So I guess my patience paid off.

Im going to take a couple pics tomorrow during the day....... Ooohh SEXY!!!

leftd90 02-18-2007 11:19 PM

$149... ? i havent had my windows tinted but isnt that pretty cheap? just wondering because i was thinking about getting mine done

bonnie94ssei 02-18-2007 11:21 PM

$150 is a pretty low price. I was quoted $195 once which is probably a more common price since we have 9 windows. I know many pay $200+.

BLACK94SSEi 02-19-2007 10:34 AM

Gumball 02-19-2007 10:52 AM

T.T.I.W.W.P. :D

willwren 02-19-2007 11:14 AM

92-99 will only be that cheap if the tint installer is ignorant about the rear window problems on this generation. Once he knows the difficulty of shaping the tint to match the odd curves, he'll charge more on the next one.

What brand of tint did he use? That's half the game. You know to use ONLY water to clean the insides of the windows from now on?

sandrock 02-19-2007 11:31 AM

I use the Stoner window cleaner on my cars...does a fine job, and it's safe for tint (or so it says). I've heard anything with amonia in it is unsafe for tint, so blue bug juice is out of the question.

BillBoost37 02-19-2007 11:39 AM

Bill.... Tony mentioned how the installer shaped the tint the same way as your green car pics. Then he said how he questioned the guy about putting it on the outside and learned they were shaping it.

I asked my installer what was able to be used on the tint and was told anything ammonia free. I've used SprayAway so far and had great success. Not sure if the film brand makes a difference on the cleaning. I have Onyx.

willwren 02-19-2007 11:50 AM

Shaping that piece with a heat gun on the rear window is a PITA on ours. The 92-99 is simply the most difficult rear window most installers will ever encounter. But heat-shaping it is the best way to get a good fit.

BillBoost37 02-19-2007 12:31 PM

The person I had do my tint, mentioned the back window. Then mentioned to me that part of it is curved and part is flat. Looking at our rear window from the side in the proper light you can see exactly what they are talking about.

It's an odd shape, there's no doubts there.

1993 SLE 02-19-2007 01:29 PM

how much you wanna bet he didnt get the sunroof done

BLACK94SSEi 02-19-2007 01:50 PM

Wren, Im not sure of the brand. I got a call into the shop that did it. But it was a pretty thick tint and they seemed to do a great job. The windows need to be cleaned inside though and I cant do that for a few days.

Free Legal replacement if I get stopped :D and lifetime warranty.

Back window was done twice. First piece scrapped second a charm. The guys who were doing it didnt speak much englsigh. one spanglish and was hard to undestand. but over all price and quality seems to be good!!

I hate people that keep changing title names :D

Tint looks great Tony :2thumbup:

GoldenBullet 02-19-2007 03:08 PM

that tint looks nice 8)

BLACK94SSEi 02-19-2007 03:53 PM

Thanks for the compliments. I love how they came out. Theres a few what appear to be bubbles on the windows and I stopped in to ask about them, and was told they would disapear once cured. If not, bring it back of course.

Dealer stickers? Dont think I didnt try peeling them off already lol. Its so cold out, that only a chip of the decal comes off at a time. I'll just wait until I can get a heat gun and remove them along with the pinstriping.

I LOVE seeing this 97 transform!!! :D

1993 SLE 02-19-2007 05:14 PM

should have removed the rear deck

BillBoost37 02-19-2007 05:16 PM

Er uh.. you didn't answer my question Spanky.. Lookin nice.. now we need to convince Jimbo into a light tint.

Tough to tell in the pics, did they remove the deck for the third brake light to be done or did they cut around?

On the dealer stickers..hmmm you favored that beer vs the heat gun when you were here... let'm have it guys.

Will the tint help you not see the curse coming?

BLACK94SSEi 02-19-2007 05:26 PM

Err Uhh Forgot to update that part. lol No they didnt cover the third break light and no I didnt tint the sunroof. The sunroof if anything will help add some interior light as not to make it look as dark. (Bill and the tint shop mentioned it)

What white curse? My tint is a white curse barrier!!

1993 SLE 02-19-2007 05:36 PM

so what was the Check Engine light feature that came with the Tint Job
