Default Near Dumb UnderCoating Question

I feel REALLY stupid (like I'm ever smart :P) asking this but.

When I do the Underbody treatment this spring, is it ok to paint everything underthere? Or is there something I have to avoid when I paint....

Thanks....

Before any undercoating is done, that undercarriage needs to be CLEAN and DRY. Get rid of as much rust as you can..scrape it, wirewheel it, sandpaper if you have to. Prime where rust used to be...no need to paint if you go straight to the undercoat.

Stay away from exhaust and suspension components. It'* best to put the car on jackstands, remove the wheels, and mask off your struts. You might do well with dropping your exhaust instead of masking it off.

FYI.. you need to sand/do other things before you apply undercoating. It'* a lot of tedious work. Is the car worth doing it on? Consider the year, the miles, the problems. The rust.

Or is it solid shape? When / if you do it, pull the exhaust off (obviously) and mask it off at the downpipe.
