Painting the wheels?

Is that a simple or hard task to perform? I was thinking maybe if it would be smarter for me to take my stocks off and clean them and paint them back silver or black. I know I would save some money doing this.

My wheels are in pretty good shape, except inside the spokes are crusted with 16 years of black road/brake grim (Clearly the previous owner wasn't a car buff like the rest of us).
Yeah, that brake dust is going to be pretty hard to avoid, even if you repaint them, unless you go with ceramic pads. But then you'd need rotors that wouldn't warp under the ceramic.
