Painting Alternator

The alternator am getting to replace my bad one. I want to paint it to match my color scheme am going with. Now is there anything I should tape off to make sure I don't mess up the alternator? Thanks Nick

I wouldn't paint it with Spray paint. But I could see painting it with a small art type paint brush to be sure nothing got inside.

I painted mine about 4 years ago (my Mr. Alternator 160 amp alt). I spent about 2 hours masking everything meticulously. What I couldn't mask, I carefully stuffed full of paper towel scraps.

2 hours masking it all off or 2 hours with a tiny brush. you choose

Or 30 minutes with a brush. I've painted both of mine with engine paint and a brush. It didn't take that much time, and it looks great and is durable.
