True. If you look closely, you can see several pieces of masking tape on the rear wheel well cladding. Turds snapped it off preparing for paint and glued it back on. Some of the drawbacks overseas...the main one being that if there was another Delta 88 in Eastern Europe or Central Asia, I never saw it. I must have been stopped and/or stared at as I drove by hundreds of times. Probably coulda sold the car for thousands, but we weren't allowed to.

No salvage yards in Russia, seriously. Those Bolshevik buttheads crush everything and ship it to Finland. Wouldn't have helped anyway, as a Lada or Dacia part wouldn't have worked with my heap. Everything came off the internet, while I said quick prayers for years that the drive train wouldn't fail.
Very few pick-ups there. Just not popular, or rarely imported. Their standard lane width is 8' rather than the 12' we have here. Seems wide at 8, but it definately isn't. Driving over there is a matter of inches. That my old Delta survived is actually incredible.

Several choices. One, you can buy a car from another diplomat no problem (and you can sell your car to another diplomat). This goes for any diplomat from any embassy.
Two, (and this goes for any car you buy overseas, from a diplomat, dealer, or foreign citizen) you can purchase a car but chances are it'* not made for the U.*. market. Of course that means you aren't shipping the car home and have to find another buyer before leaving.
Due to the enormous customs and VAT charges over there (to pay for all those freebies like healthcare and such
), we can't dump our cars on the market. That being said, a foreign citizen actually can purchase our car, but their local government applies the original customs duties that would have been applicable at the time the car was new. I checked to see what mine would have been........$9,000.00!
So the poor Bolshevik who purchased my ultra-rare Delta LSS would have paid me high-dollar, then paid their guv'mint too. Whoa
