Correct me if I am wrong, but, last I knew, modding the factory lighting system on vehicles was againsts DOT laws. Hence, the reason they are amber in the first place |
Ok, since you requested it.
You can add, change, or modify lighting equipment on your vehicle, as long as it still conforms to DOT standards. Amber turn signal lenses are NOT mandatory, as long as the item producing the light, produces amber light. There is a DOT spec for amber bulbs, like 1157NA, 3157NA, etc. So, a turn signal, front or rear, can have a clear lens, and an amber bulb producing the light, and it's legal. Currently there's no spec for a Red bulb for tail/brake lights, so a red lens must be used. There's an Infiniti SUV that has clear reflectors and outer lenses for its tail lights, but inside, there's a red lens around the LED's that produce the light. Very strange, but I suppose it's legal, since it's OEM
