Come spring I am thinking i'll have to paint my car. It has hairline sratches all over it. The paint looks like old porsline, thats why I got the car so cheap. I don't know what the previous owners did. They must have used an abrasive to wax the car because there is no luster to the paint and the hairline sctratches cover the entire car. My question is are there any good deals on paint jobs out there? I've heard that i'll probably have to put out a good $1000 for a full paint job. I'll be willing to travel 200+ miles for a good price.

Try getting it buffed and waxed first.....Then see what youi got. Buffing can do A LOT of scratch removal and film from hard waxes really well. If that doesn't work, then I would start shopping around for paint shops. I know maaco has a bad rep for quality but 600 get'* you an oem finish with like a 5 yrt warranty on it or something like that...I need to get my car painted too.
Can you post a picture so we can see what the paint actually looks like? If you still have clear coat and the scratches are not into the primer then you may just need a good buffing with a quality wax or polymer sealant.
It'* BAD. He'* not kidding about the porcelin like look. The roof especially. It'* like it shrinked, and cracked to stay put. The actual paint is cracked, there'* space between it.
SSsuperchargedEI is right, Maaco is fine paint wise, it'* just the prep they (don't) do.
