Default MY Meguir'* Deep Crystal System review

On thursday i used Meguir'* Deep Crystal system to restore my paint job. My bonny has no clear coat and a years worth of oxidation had built up from the hot california sun. Before the paint was a light grey with areas of white, there was just that much oxidation. So i decided i try this, or get a new paint job. The system is a three step system consisting of a paint restoreer, polish, and wax. Well, 7 hours later, i was shocked and amazed but also a little dissapointed. The paint restorer seemed to do 90% of the work, to bring it back to show room color. I put two layers of it on the car, took about two hours of nonstop working. It didnt remove the scatches and swirl marks all the way but enough so it wasnt noticable. The polish i felt didnt do sh*t. And i was very dissappointed with the wax. It was very annoying applying it since it liked to stay in the applicator sponge more than stick to the car surface. I would sqeeze the applicator and wax would splurge through my fingers. The wax was also very watered down also helping making it difficult to apply. The watery quality made the wax dry inconsistantly so i have wax swirl marks everywhere, and the orbital buffer i usually use to get rid of swirl marks didnt help. But all and all the system worked great. The words of my dad "Looks like we dont need that new paint job anymore do we." I think for next time ill stick witht he yellow can caruaba wax, it gives it more of a galvanized wax look and the Meguir'* cauaba wax gave more of a glassy suface look. Ill post pictures asap. Hope this was informative

i love the meguiar'* 3 phase system. i can tell a difference after every step...and i repeat the process at least every 3 monthes. i find the polish give the paint more of a deep look, and the yellow wax (phase 3 that smells like bananas) was VERY THICK in my case.

I also use the cleaner as a substitute for a clay bar. I've used the clay bar once.....with the basic maintenance since then with the 3 phase system there is no need for a clay bar.

also.....7 hours is an insanely long time. it takes me an average of 2-2.5 hours including a handwash. I also don't use an orbital buffer anymore either.

there'* my opinion for a little controversy! :o

Heh, yes 7 hours is a veryyyy long time, but that was from start to finish. Heres how it broke down:

Step one cleaner: 2 hours, two coats (yes there was that much oxidation)
Step two polish: 45 minutes. One time over.
Step three wax: 1 hour. Two coats.
Meguirs rubber/vinyle treatment spray: 1 hour. Used on anything and everything i could find.
Orbital: ~30minutes, another to 30 fix it after breaking it.

rest of the time i dont know where went, but i also detailed the following: engine bay, tires, windows, carpet, seatbelts, vacumm.

boy did my feet hurt when i decided to call it a day

I agree. I used Meguiars Gold class last summer. Haven't waxed it since then. It still has a great shine. Claybared mine too.
