Default Meguiar'* Smooth Surface Clay Kit

I did not know if anyone had posted about Clay Kits on detailing of there cars so I thought I would try the Meguiar'* Smooth Surface Clay Kit and let everyone know what I thought of it after trying it on my Bonneville.

I usually do use the Meguiar'* products on my vehicles and have been satisfied with the results. This is the first time using a Clay Kit of any kind on one of my cars. Purchased at Advance Auto Parts for $17.65 and it does come with a trial size of the Cleaner Wax to put on after you use the clay.

They claim a glass like finish so we will see...

More pictures to follow once done.

If you have used a Clay kit like this before let me know what you thought of it.

I've tried the liquid clay, and didn't like it. I've been looking at that same kit.

I used that kit on my Bonnie...next up will be the truck.

The kit worked well, however the clay bars were a bit small, but the results were great. I would highly recommend the kit.

I used it on my previous car. The biggest difference you will notice is the smoothness of the paint. Wash your car, and run your hand over the paint and feel how rough it is. After the clay, it will be quite smooth. Pulls a lot of crap out of the clear coat. Then if you polish/wax it it should look great.

Thumbs up Well I took 3 hours and did the Clay detail and here are the results

I would have to say that I am very pleased with the results of this kit. I took my time and did each panel one at a time to make sure I did it right. You really do feel the difference before and after. This kit came with a 4oz trial bottle of there Cleaner Wax and I used it as my wax after the clay. Below are pictures of the final results and the shine is like a mirrior and the surface is very smooth.

I would highly recommend this kit to any member of the forum. Very happy with the results.

Do you think I should tint my windows on the sides of my car. This car came out of Arizona and had almost Limo tint which I had to remove off the sides when I got it shipped in last month. (cops will give tickets here for that dark) I kept the back window tint on because I was concerned on removing it if it would rip with the rear window defroster. I am thinking about having legal tint put on the side. What do you think? would this be a plus for the looks of this car plus it would keep it cooler this summer inside. thanks

Black cars always look great with a dark tint. I say go for it.

Nothing turns heads faster then a deep shine. Very nice looking car.

I only use Meguiars. I am a huge fan of the Clay bar system followed by a coat of NXT wax. Your car is looking good with that shine.

Thanks Danthurs, Black cars look good if clean and waxed. I think I will go ahead and do the window tint on the sides. Should look good on this car being black and help to keep it cool in this 96 degree Georgia heat we have here.

Looks awesome!!

What kind of tires do you have on the car? They look nice...

I have used Megs clay kit for years and have loved it!

Just picked up the same kit to do my car. Washed it up and felt the surface. No need to clay, still smooth as can be. That NXT wax really holds up.
