Not REALLY long-term, but 30 days. I decided to prove a point (something I've known for awhile) and share a secret I've had for some time. Mequiar'* gold class is one of the preferred waxes here, and I had some laying around, and decided to compare it head-to-head with my favorite wax.

Since I wouldn't DARE do this to the Bonneville, but had the perfect test POS car, I went for it.

A month ago, I washed the Honda, and put Mequiars gold class on the driver'* side of the car. 2 coats, buffed in with a 10" orbital. Beautiful results. On the passenger side, I used 2 coats of something else, NOT orbital buffed in, just hand-buffed out because it'* so easy.

Here are the results a month later:


This is the trunk lid. Bottom half (driver'* side) is Mequiars. The top portion (passenger side) is the secret.

This is after 30 days, and I drive on a gravel road at least twice a day. This product is the secret of the used car salesman. It simulates a factory clearcoat better than any product on the market, and is a HARD finish. Very protective. I can apply two coats in the time it takes me to do one coat of standard premium wax like Mequiar'*.

Anyone care to guess what it is? Anyone remember me making reference to it in the past? I've used it on and off since 1993 when I learned about it.

Gold Class received a C+ rating and was one of the top choices in its class. Expect the shine to last 4 weeks and then diminish rapidly.

It'* Liquid Glass. But don't put it over wax. You have to use polishing compound if you still have wax on the car.

It goes on light, very thing, and the can lasts forever, so don't let the price fool you. Autozone now carries it, which is good because it used to be VERY hard to find. The can lasts forever, it goes on and comes off easier than almost anything I've tried, and works great. It'* a tougher protective finish, and can be used on glass. Works great on the windows.

I've used it on my last 8 cars, and occasionally try something new, but always go back.
