How much for a good paint job?

You can get a decent paint job for $700 at Maaco. Make sure you get base clear though. Anything under that is single stage and will fade in about 2 years.
Don't bother doing any prep as far as taping and sanding goes, if you go to Maaco. They have to go over it anyway. Do, take the lights out, windshield squirters, etc.
Try and find a corporate Maaco too. I worked at a corporate one, and the difference compared to the closest non-corporate Maaco was night and day. (Better equipment, more insurance jobs, cleaner)
Most people just look at all the get what you paid for $200 paint jobs when it comes to Maaco. I've seen my buddy at that corporate Maaco make fiberglass Vettes and GNs look like glass.
