Simple Green and a rag. 2:1 for general cleaning once weekly. (This is the part of my car I actually clean)

wash it every week, and it will stay clean. orange blast and cover up all the critical parts with aluminum foil, then rinse with garden hose.

Most all of the electronics under the hood are designed to resist water. If this was the case dont you think you would have a lot of dead cars after the first big rain storms?

I'd cover the coils and alternator at the bare minimum though.

I've only pressure washed mine once and it has stayed fairly clean looking. Don't worry about using a pressure washer on it. I covered up my alt and air filter with bags, just dont spray things you don't want to get wet.

I got some engine degreaser, covered up the coils, and battery. Let it sit, and used a regular garden hose to clean it all off. Made a world of difference, but from the crap I have all on my engine.. I need to clean all that off by hand. But once it'* clean [and your'* looks clean], it'* easy to maintain it. It'* just that initial cleaning that is hell.

Rain doesn't get under the hood like a pressure washer does. Use extreme caution.
